What’s up!
Here’s a little bit about me and a little bit about this site.
About Me
I’m Mason–longtime history nerd and even-longer-time fantasy/sci-fi nerd. If you’re talking Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Elder Scrolls, The Witcher, or Dungeons and Dragons, I’m listening. I’ve also always loved to create things and talk about what I’m creating. Naturally, this is a pretty good outlet. I’ve always enjoyed writing, but I’ve always kept most of my work to myself–until now. My hope for you as the reader is that you will find this site helpful and engaging. If, after a visit to this site, you’ve learned something new or you’re just a little more inspired to create, then I’ve achieved what I set out to do!
About this site
My purpose for creating this site is to help worldbuilders consider how to implement ideas into their worlds by looking at real-world examples. Anyone can plop a bunch of cities, characters, and geographical features on a map and call it a day–but if you really want your world to feel believable then there needs to be some method behind the madness. When I’m worldbuilding, I can find myself spending hours browsing endless Wikipedia pages and other websites trying to sift useful information out of massive walls of text. While I personally enjoy this (yes, I’m probably insane), it’s a huge time sink and can easily derail productivity. I aim to make LegendWright a place where the info sifting is already done and the useful knowledge is available in an easy-to-read and concise package. I produce this content mainly through the lens of worldbuilding for Dungeons and Dragons, but I think worldbuilders for any tabletop RPG, book, or other medium can still find loads of useful information here!
With that in mind, I know that much of what I write involves simplifications of many highly complex historical and sociopolitical topics. For the purposes of this site, that’s okay. I love getting bogged down in the nitty-gritty details on my own time, but LegendWright is for easily digestible knowledge. For my part, I aim to explain historical concepts in a way that is as relevant as possible to worldbuilding, even if that means oversimplifying certain things. The goal here is to boost creativity and have fun!
